Tee Up For Your Next Bachelor Party

The bachelor party remains one of the most enduring of all male rituals.

In fact, the original “bachelor party” dates back to 5th century Sparta where soldiers would gather to celebrate a fellow comrade on his last night of freedom. Consisting of dinner and series of toasts, festivities were remarkably tame compared to the one’s we know today.

Regardless of their genesis, bachelor parties still hold the same purpose — to acknowledge the groom’s important rite of passage from single life to marriage.

If you’re lucky enough to be deemed best man, it’s your responsibility to orchestrate a memorable event that you and your closest friends will reminisce about for years to come.

That’s a lot of pressure. Fortunately, we’re here to help!

Planning a Golf Course Bachelor Party

We’ll admit we’re a little biased when it comes to golf, but nothing beats a classic 18-holes of sun and fun (along with an extra cart for the keg). If you can successfully rally the troops, a three-round weekend golf retreat is even better.

A day golf outing (rather than a night of debauchery) is a golden opportunity for male bonding and a chance to indulge in one of the groom’s favorite activities (which will both be less frequent post-marriage).

We suggest making the planning process a little easier by following these tips:

  • Consider the relative budgets of your friends. You don’t want anyone to skip out because they can’t afford it.
  • Set a date and book early. Avoid the day before the wedding. The groom will need to be sharp for the upcoming ceremony.
  • Send out invitations a month or so in advance. Some guests may be out-of-state and require additional planning time.
  • After you’ve booked the course, plan for a meal (and/or other events) to follow it.

If you’re planning an upcoming bachelor party/golf outing, the staff at Southern Hills Golf would be happy to help. Contact us to find out how we can help make the event a day to remember for years to come.
