Playing a round or two of golf is the perfect excuse to get some fresh air and put down the smartphone. Well it is for some of us. For others, itâs the perfect excuse to integrate a love for golf with a love for technology.
Though you probably donât need another excuse to be on your phone outside of work hours, there are some great iPhone apps that can help you on the golf course in more ways than one. Just ask Tiger.
So without further ado, here are some of our favorite golf course apps:
V1 Golf ($4.99)
Are you looking to perfect your swing? V1 Golf will give you access to golf swing videos of more than 50 PGA champions and current tour playersâ. Watch and carefully dissect their swings in slow motion or frame-by-frame, then record your own swing and create a side-by-side comparison. You can analyze the comparison on your own or hit the âImproveâ feature to get expert tips.
Golfshot: Golf GPSÂ ($29.99)
Golfshot: Golf GPS has more than 40,000 professionally-mapped courses available in its database (including Southern Hills Golf Club). And in addition to detailed aerial and list views, you can also use this app for scoring and generating stats. Based on scoring, Golfshot will automatically organize greens in regulation, sand saves, and scrambling percentages into easy-to-read graphics.
iPINGÂ (free)
Improve your putting consistency with the iPING app. Used in conjunction with a companion cradle ($30) that clips to the putter shaft, iPING analyzes your putting skill based on stroke type, impact angle and tempo. From there it averages your consistency over time to calculate your Putting Handicap (PHcp). As your putting consistency improves over time, your PHcp will begin to decrease.
